internal support material or more infill in Slic3r?

Hi,

I'm trying to print http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:950664 with the file Collar_1.STL.

The problem appears at at Z12.6mm where Slic3r produces material that is hanging mid air which causes issues while printing. (infill is at 5%)

Is there a way for Slic3r to support that material by adding more material on the lower layers? Or bridge completely? Or at least warn the user about this problem?

The alternative seems to be to increase infill to like 30% and play around with infill patterns.
Any other options?

Thanks
Karsten

Yeah, I have seen that before but I don't know a true solution. What I do know is that most of the time it prints just fine there might be some spaghetti inside the model but you are not going to be able to tell. Raising the infill% will help

You could try the Only infill where needed and up the infill

There are two solutions:

- find a combination of infill type and % that will work (kind of sucks, but it's relatively easy)

- use a modifier mesh to increase infill amount only where needed (a little tricky to do, but allows you to get the infill that you want)

Hopefully one day Slic3r will detect this automatically and add support...
