Help with Slic3r

I'm trying to get this https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:265752 to print correctly. When I export the gcode in slic3r it prints everything except the threads inside the top.

I can use the split button to determine there are two separate parts to the file, but how do I get them to print together?

Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Help with Slic3r

Easiest solution is to upload the STL file to Netfabb here:
https://service.netfabb.com
then download the repaired mesh.

I ended up using cura to slice the file and it worked out good.

I didn't do any special settings in cura compared to what I did in slic3r.

So I'm wondering what the difference could be between the two programs that would cause that.

It's all about the math and compatibility. With all the different slicers you will get different results. Try to slice/print a benchy with Slic3r, Cura, Simplify3D with the same settings (Temperature, Resolution, Speed,... and all the other crazy stuff) und you will be surprised about the results.

The original file has multiple shells in it (the person who made the model should have merged them before exporting). The different slicers handle this differently, so the results vary.

Many of the models you'll find on the internet have errors in them, the slicers try to correct these errors with differing levels of success.
