Help printing in finer detail

Hey all,

I'm having trouble printing a test part. It has some pretty fine details on it, and maybe the answer is it's not possible, but I'd love get some advice on it.

I've tried changing the extrusion width from .4 down to .2 and even .1 but it still doesn't come out right. At .4 it simply doesn't doesn't print the smaller pegs and wholes and at .2 and .1.... well you can see how that turned out in the pictures I've added below. Can someone provide any advice or direct me to some tutorials that might help with printing finer details?

As you can see in the model on the top row there are 5 circular pegs to be printed and 5 circular holes. And on the bottom row there are 5 pairs of 2 rectangular pegs and 5 pairs of 2 rectangular wholes. You can see my results below.

I attached the STL file as well.

.2mm

.1mm

Your .1mm version looks particularly bad, did you try using Slic3r Prusa Edition with the stock Prusa settings?

That being said, if you want to print fine details like that you'll need to use a 0.25mm nozzle, and even then you're not going to get your smallest pegs to print with the stock settings (others with more experience than me may be able to tell you if it's possible at all by tweaking the settings).

Oh I definitely tried using the default settings. Default settings wont even SHOW the smaller pegs and wholes when slicing it. They are too small for the default settings. Is there no way around it beyond getting a .25mm nozzle?

I don't think you can make it work by changing the settings alone, but I'm not an expert.

I'm not sure you can get your smallest pegs to print even with a 0.25mm nozzle, but I haven't tried anything like that.

You can't get good results with extrusion width set to values less than nozzle width. You will have to get smaller nozzle and tune the settings for it.
