Flickering and Stuttering of lcd screen and printer when making tiny moves

Flickering and Stuttering of lcd screen and printer when making tiny moves also print less accurate.
For sloppy outcomes, see last vid.

Tiny moves seem less smooth than usual and tiny stops when changing direction like when printing infills.
It is like cutting out at rapid changes of direction.

Is it a slicer setting problem or hardware?
Is the board getting to hot since there are wires in the casing who may block heat dissipation?

Printer is 3 days old after calibration worked amazing.
now this worries me.

i made a youtube channel for some demonstration. pls xcuse the horrible presentation.

This my first 3d printer and it is an original prusa i3 mk2.
I payed the 500€ more because of the well made kit with step by step manual , tested parts, etc.
Also to support this entrepeneur. Best place for your first printer. Best kit i ever assembled.
Basicly there are the ones who make and then there are the others.
i prefer makers.

Can you check to see how your cables for the LCD are routed? Are they routed near cables for any of the steppers, or any other wires that could cause EMI interference?

When I've used such displays in the past in my own projects I've noticed they are VERY sensitive to EMI/RFI.

I just rewired, everything in perfect order.
put powerhub and board from frame and set aside for free movement and clear cables
Still the same flickering. Oo

I just read that someone has even wrapped tinfoil around the LCD cabels.
Does that work?

I will build a box anyway but if anyone knows more about that interrupts, it slows my speed down especially at tiny infill the stop become longer than the estruder touches the bed.

Well, you shouldn't be having any problems at all in the first place, but it's not the first time I've seen this problem on the forums so I'm trying to figure out what could be causing it. The tin foil was my suggestion, and I have no idea if it would work. It would only work IF the problem is a shielding issue or EMI/RFI issue. Otherwise, it will just do nothing except look silly. It wouldn't be a bad idea just as a crazy test, and see what happens.

With the one careful warning that tinfoil is conductive, and you should take extra care not to somehow accidentally short something out by touching bare wires or contacts.

Decades ago:
when he was little my older brother put to nails in a powerplug on the wall
and then showed my father what marvel he made, then the nails fused together as one.
no one got hurt except my father aged some years in a couple of seconds.

maybe i will not use conductiv material now that i remember this story.

ill use the tinfoil to make a hat against thoughtcontrol 😀

enough shenanigans:
i ll reflash firmeware, see what happens when current print is done.
btw i can hear the printer on the radio, tak,tak,tak,tak....

Just flashed, and tried laptop instead of sd card, no difference.

I went back to "0.20 Normal" in Print settings
With that the stops inbetween become less of an issue because the are shorter.

Re: Flickering and Stuttering of lcd screen and printer when making tiny moves

We have never seen the display to flicker that much. The flicker is caused by a full refresh of the display and its purpose is to bring the display to a known state in case the display communication is disturbed by electromagnetic noise induced by the motors. The full refresh shall be triggered rarely though. We will look into the issue and try to reproduce your problem.

For now, I believe your model is very detailed and Slic3r generates a too detailed G-code. This likely puts too much strain onto the printer controller. I recommend to simplify the model before slicing, which is a good idea anyway.

Do you get such a display flicker with any of the g-codes provided with the printer?

Re: Flickering and Stuttering of lcd screen and printer when making tiny moves

Hi My screen also does the same behavior, just assembled the printer and seemed to pop up with longer print. Printing from pc and not sd card. So it looks like the solution was just not using slicer? I am assuming a little bug? My model isn't that complex so can't be that surely?

Thanks
