First layer adhesion issue

Hi all

MK3S kit is my first Prusa printer, I'm quite honor to own it.

However, I've turned this printer for five days to fight for adhesion issue since i assembled completely.

As the picture, my object has four circles on the corners, but these circles can't be printed well on the first layer

I'm using 0.6 mm stainless steel nozzle, PLA as my filament and these are what I did for fighting the adhesion issue below

1. I used alcohol 90% and dishwashing liquid to clean my smooth spring steel sheet hundred times (not working)

2. I used up to 80 Celsius bed temp and 230 Celsius nozzle temp. (not working)

3. I used live adjust Z to lower the nozzle height (it works when nozzle is pretty low and filament squished horrible which I don't want)

4. I used extrusion width from 0.65 to 0.9mm on Prusaslicer (seems work but my first layer includes quite big gaps which I don't want)

5. I changed retraction parameter from low to high on Prusaslicer. (not working)

6. I add more deretraction length on Prusaslicer (not working)

I'm frustrated....

I have another 3D printer using glass bed which works pretty well, but my new Prusa printer drives me crazy...

Any ideas would appreciate

Acetone is good for the smooth PEI infrequently. It removes oxidation, which is good, but can cause the PEI to crack with over-use (daily application). Also very effective with the smooth PEI sheets is a dunk under the kitchen sink with Dawn dish soap or your local equivalent. Scrub it with a plain clean paper towel and dry it with another. Avoid touching the print area. It works amazingly well.  I'll use isopropyl alcohol frequently, acetone monthly (if that) but whenever adhesion suffers, I head for the sink.

Glad you got it going. Happy printing!

RE: First layer adhesion issue

Hi guys

After trying many things for many days, I decided to use acetone to clean my smooth spring steel sheet.

I thought alcohol 90%+ and dishwashing liquid are enough to clean the sheet,  apparently I was wrong.

Now the adhesion is good to go 🙂

@bobstro

Thank you for your information

I knew acetone could damage my smooth PEI sheet, so that's why I ignored acetone for cleaning.

According to your suggestion, I think I didn't use dish soap to clean my smooth PEI sheet properly

I'm gonna follow your instructions and try it out again.

Thanks again!
