Default Extrusion Width in Slic3r
Any idea why the MK2 default profiles use such big default extrusion width? This thing comes with a 0.4mm nozzle. It seems like this would cause massive over extrusion.
The default width is 0.45mm for most extrusion (0.2mm "normal" profile" . 13% over extrusion.
Is anyone having problems with this?
Re: Default Extrusion Width in Slic3r
No it's not over-extruded; the slicer will base the gcode on the extrusion value; the nozzle diameter is somewhat irrelevant.
With a 0.4mm nozzle, extrusion width works well at between 0.4 and 0.5mm, with the wider extrusions providing slightly better layer adhesion.

Re: Default Extrusion Width in Slic3r
wow, thank you. I always assumed it calculated line width based on nozzle diameter. If that were the case, than extrusion width>nozzle diameter would always cause over extrusion. This also explains some of the difficulties I've been having with infill. I was getting thin stringy infill- so I was increasing the extrusion width for infill. It seems to only make things worse. Honestly I managed to fix the issue by switching from rectilinear to honeycomb. I see the prusa specific slic3er released has grid as an option- that would probably fix it too.
