Cura 15 vs 2
Following on from Constantine's post in the Mk2 Cura Print Settings thread http://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk2-f23/cura-print-settings-t999.html#p10064 I was wondering whether anyone else has any thoughts regarding the differnt versions?
I am still running Cura 15.04.6 (when I use Cura) having tried an earlier Cura 2 beta and found it was worse than unusable. To be honest, it put me off even thinking about upgrading to V2.
So are there any others out there who have used both Cura versions? What are your thoughts? Should I try the latest (currently 2.1.2)? Is it worth the time invested into it to get good prints? Is there a difference in print quality between the 2 versions? Is it really "the world's most advanced 3D printer software"?
Thanks for your input.
Peter

Re: Cura 15 vs 2
They've stated that they will discontinuing development of the old codebase 'soon' so if you want to carry on using Cura, it might be easier to put in the time now. However, I've found 2.1.2 problematic on a number of fronts; it is a bigger time investment than I expected. I like 15 even though it has it's own nuances, perhaps it's just familiarity.
Cascading auto-calculations is just one thing I've found a little tiresome; having to search for multiple changed values after altering one has kept me on my toes. Also, the generated paths can be a little illogical imo. Print quality is not noticeably better from the older version, even matching it has taken longer than I'd hoped.
I haven't tried it for the PR i3 so I can't comment on that.
