Can I modify or make custom supports in Slicer
I was hoping there is a way to modify program generated supports or is there a way to create your own?
Is there a source that explains how to do the above or explains what each of the settings mean for supports. I can't seem to figure it out.
Thanks
Harry

RE: Can I modify or make custom supports in Slicer
I am printing a small seat for an RC aircraft. Every time I remove the added supports I break the thin parts shown in blue. I was hoping there was a way to not print the supports on the side of the seat and only print the supports on the back of the seat.

Use a support enforcer modifier. Enable support generation but turn off auto supports. Select support on build plate only. The right click on the model and select support enforcer.
The enforcer must touch the area of the model where you want support. Also the support generation is a bit over enthusiastic and usually exceeds the actual support modifier so its a case of adjusting down the modifier size and re slicing.
But looking at that part it should print without supports. Seems to be a similar angle to this which has very limited contact area and prints fine on the smooth sheet when its properly clean :-

When I get to the part where I right click on the model and select add support enforcer all I see are 'Box, Cylinder, Sphere, or Slab' for my choices and those aren't what I want. What am I doing wrong?

I just found a YouTube video that demonstrated what you were explaining to me. I think I am all good now - thank you so much.

Hi Harry, what do you actually want?
I would have thought a box on this side of the model, moved in to cover the blue bits and configured as a support blocker would do. and the same on the other side if required...
or a box up the middle of the model but nut wide enough to cover the blue bits, and configured as an enforcer then set the slicer generate supports, but not to generate automatic supports... then it should only generate supports where the box impinges on the main body of the sloping back of the seat

Joan,
I thought the box was going to be a solid box. What I didn't realize is that the Box was only to provide the housing size that the enforcers would be generated into once I re-sliced it. I did not reslice and only saw a green box (which I thought was going to be solid) being added to my model. Just shows you how new I am to all this.
Thanks - Harry

Some concepts are not immediately obvious...
But got there eventually
