3d prints skipping or layer are off with my Original Prusa i3 kit

Hello I'm a big fan of the Rasberry Pi projects and making cases for them. However when I try to print the cases(PLA), the prints start off okay, but after sometime they appear to have a mirror image that has shifted. Hole alignments are off or just start to be with theses prints in the early stage.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi Lonnie

A photo would really help to explain your problem, but have you tried printing using the "High Power" option?

Hi Peter,

So close to having a perfect print. Tried the high power setting and this was the result. Best print so far for me aside from the offset standoffs. Any suggestions?

Thanks again Peter

Hi Lonnie

Picture's a tad small to see what's going on there. I guess it's the screw holes offset to the left? And the case shifts to the left at the same point?

What slicer are you using? Are you using the default settings supplied by PR? Does the GCode file contain a line:

M201 X1000 Y1000 E600

near the start of the file?

Have you gone back to basics and printed one of the GCode models provided by PR on the SD card?

If you want, you can zip up the STL and GCode file, upload them and I can have a look.

Re: 3d prints skipping or layer are off with my Original Prusa i3 kit

Hello Peter,

My apologies for the small image. It is the screw holes that are off. But like I said this has been my best print so far since I printed out the Prusa emblem on the SD card, which came out great. I'm using Slic3r and I have to admit it has been a learning curve understanding the various settings it has to offer. I'll send the GCode and STL for this project. The GCode line you mention does not appear in the custom GCode setting in Slic3r. One other thing I've noticed is the printer does not ask to calibrate z (yes/no) before it prints. And the heat bed does not turn off after a print. I'm not too familiar with GCode.

Thanks Peter for the information,
Lonnie

Hi Lonnis

It does appear that you have some start and end GCode missing.

Try with the attached GCode file to see if that prints any better. If it does, then we can look at what your problem is...
