.35mm FAST setting doesn't squish beginning at 2nd layer

I am using Slic3r 1.33.8-prusa3d-win64 with mk2 fw 3.0.10. If I use .15 or .2 setting in Slic3r it prints fine but no matter what I do with the .35 FAST setting, including lowering Z, the 2nd layer and above doesn't get squished. If you zoom in to the photo below you can see it's not even close. Is there some kind of explanation for this?

A layer height of 0.35mm is greater than 80% of the standard nozzle size.

As a "rule of thumb" the layer height should not exceed that 80% (or some opinions, 75%) as the nozzle is simply too far away to squish properly.

Interesting, I thought it was working way back when I initially got the printer. Must be mistaken. Ok, I'll stick with .2 and .15 then, thanks.

One other thought; you have to keep the print speeds down when printing tall. Absolute maximum of 10mm^3/s (about 60mm/s) and you need higher temps.

❓ so what you gain in speed due to the increased layer height, you may loose in the circumstance that you've to extrude and move slower... ❓

Not quite. You still make a gain due to the fixed acceleration values.

I use the .35 setting all the time and don't have that issue so I don't agree with PJR that is a problem it the layer height being t too much and prusayo you are probably right that it worked at some point.

Do a few cold pulls to make sure you don't have anything obstructing your nozzle
