Z axis skewed during print?

Hi. I have a strange problem. Printer calibrates fine (says all perpendicular). I set a print off and at the end I find its slanted and the top of my print looks smashed at the top. I then notice the right hand side Z axis / stepper is lower than the left hand side which explains the print - my extruder is slanted.

But how is this possible if it starts off level unless one of the z steppers is missing steps? I thought the should always move together during printing.

Has anyone experienced this? Got any ideas? (latest firmware on the website, printer is only week old and has produced good prints previously, not in stealth mode, disabled crash detection).

Hi James,
Some of the lead screw nuts have been reported to be tight this might be the reason...

you could consider swapping the nuts and seeing if the problem goes away, or moves to the other side...

other possibilities are faulty motor, loose connections on einsy, faulty cables to motor, jamming linear bearings, poorly lubricated bearings,
something obstructing movement of the Z axis

the leadscrew nuts shouldn't need lubricating as they are self lubricating plastic.

another possibility is the motor covers at the bottom of the leadscrew dragging and causing lost steps..

regards Joan

Can confirm this. After I replaced both of my x gantry mounts the z axis would barely even move on the left side without loosening the screws a couple of turns.
