Z-axis failing to rise with mk3 build kit
I was trying to put together my mk3 from the pre-order kit and I ran into an issue with the Z-axis. The motor on the left side doesn't seem to want to turn to allow the axis to go up (it will go down but it's quite jittery like it's binding on something). I can turn the rod manually without much resistance and it passes the z self test because it makes it successfully to the bottom, but it then fails in calibration. I checked that the dust cap wasn't on too tight but I'm not sure what else would be stopping it from moving.

I had same problem,
Tecnical service told me to downgrade FW to RC3... and now it's working.
Try also to align perfectly youz z-axis.

Try to rotate the trapezoid nut and use different holes. Don't overtighten the screws.

Hmm I actually was on RC3 before trying to upgrade to RC2. But when it did move it seemed to be somewhat stuck on the left side and falling behind. What was the difference in RC4 that made it fail?

Try to rotate the trapezoid nut and use different holes. Don't overtighten the screws.
I'll give this a shot tonight. Hopefully that's all it is. A friend of mine was recommending a silicon lube on when threading it in as well.

I had a similar issue, start with turning both right and left lead screws with your fingers. if you find the left is a lot harder to turn your trapezoid screw may not be threaded properly. You can fix it with minor disassembly if you unscrew the top left/right plastics, unscrew the trapizod screws and carefully lower the x-axis on a towel so you don't scratch your heat bed. Helps if you have a second pair of hands. Remove the trapezoid and re-thread it until it's relatively easy to turn. Pull up the x-asis and screw it back in and try turning both lead screws with your fingers again. Took me a few tries before I finally got it. Might also help if you loosen the left motor a bit before tightening trapezoid screw in case it's an alignment issue.

Thanks Joe and Simon! It seems rotating the trapezoid nuts, using different holes and re-threading the rod a few times seemed to work. I'm able to move the z-axis up and down smoothly now
