Z-AXIS failing calibration

I just finished building my MK3. At first everything was fine except I could not get it to pass the initial calibration of the 4 points due to the PINDA probe height. I messed around adjusting the height but then noticed that when the printer auto-homes it's Y position was incorrect (about 50 mm off). I'm not sure what was causing this so I reflashed the firmware with the latest 3.1.3. and then did a factory reset for all data. Now the printer's Z-Axis calibration is totally screwed. It doesn't try to raise to the top and doesn't stop trying to lower when it gets to the heatbed. At this point I'm completely frustrated and have no idea how to proceed. Am worried that I'm going to damage it. Any help or suggestions?

sounds like you want to go all the way back with the self-test and force it to measure the axes again. I believe thats where it gets its travel distances from so that it shouldn't crash during calibration, assuming that nothing is causing it to bind up in either direction.

ie: if it maxes out z (you should the clicking sound as it hits the endstops to make sure z is absolutely maxxed), and then lowers it by 210 there should be no danger of it crashing. From there it calibrates with the probe like normal.

Either one of the Axis is "too tight" (not sliding freely) or something I'm unsure of.

Only advice I can come up with is.
1. Make sure X, Y, and Z axis move freely, the entire "length of travel".
2. Perform the "setup wizzard"... It's my best friend. Every time I move my printer. (eg: pick it up, turn it around) I perform the setup wizzard.

To have top quality, you must make 100% certain everything is calibrated perfectly... always. I spend almost 15 minutes doing calibrations every filament change. It should be considered just a "part" of using your printer. (assuming you want top quality)

Hi,

One issue I faced was that one z axis lead screw nut had worn threads, I can manually move the z axis from settings, but during the calibration it would stop short. I replaced the plastic nuts with metallic ones I hald and it helped but it doesn't work all the time, I still have to assist the z axis with my hand just a bit so it won't stop short.

Is there away to tune the "estop" sensing gain a bit?
