Y slip with correction

Hi! I'm a first time 3d printer owner and I bought the mk3 kit and finished building it last week.

I started printing some calibration cubes to start fine tuning my settings and I'm getting some weird distortions I can't seem to find anywhere else online.

When my printer moves in the negative y direction it makes a small positive y direction adjustment as it is about to print in the the positive or negative X direction. this consistently happens on the first layer, but inconsistently happens throughout the print. This causes the layer to shift. How ever this shift corrects itself later where the object is mostly straight with some layers shifted in the y direction. (See attachments)

I've tried tightening the y belt. I've flashed both 3.1.1 & 3.1.2 rc and done the full wizard calibration each flash. I've even undone the y bed to readjust the y axis bearings as I thought they might be to tight. I've reduced print speeds to 25% of normal. None have resolved the issue.

I've also noticed this happening to prusa batman and logo prints.

If anyone has any insight please let me know!

Re: Y slip with correction

Are you sure the grub screws on the pulley mounted on the motor shaft are tight?

I did not check the ones on the pully attached to the motor shaft, I'll give them a look when I get home, and update thank you!

These prints look super miserable to me. Could you post an image of the original benchy, original gcode from SD card?

They are pretty awful.

I haven't printed the benchy yet since with this issue popping up, it would undoubtedly fail, but if it'll help provide more insight into the issue ill print it tonight 🙂

I did how ever print the Batman logo from the prusa sd card. I'll post those images below. As a note, I also had some first layer adhesion issues with these Batman prints as I hadn't fixed my z- axis yet. This was corrected for the calibration cube

Pretty much looks like there is some play (like a mm or so) in Y direction. First bet would be loose pulley on Y motor. Or maybe belt loose... Or some play with the extruder mount (hotend or whole axis). Try to wiggle nozzle (when cold 😈 ) or Y axis.

Thank you everyone for your reply's it turned out it was the y-axis grubbers.

i tightened them and for good measure, tightened the X-axis ones as well.
It's printing beautifully!
