Y-Axis Ripple

Hello all,

I've been having trouble lately with jitter in my layers. In general my layers used to blend together very smoothly but now they are now visible in the x-axis and rippling sharply in the y-axis with no clear consistency in either direction or magnitude of jump. I am using my 2 month old Prusa MK3 (kit) with the default settings for PLA on Slic3r Prusa Edition at 100% speed (after printing the first layer at 60%). I have found that the majority of the ripple is eliminated when in Stealth mode but I'd rather not slap a bandaid on what could be a fundamental issue.

I should note as well that I do have some wobble in one of my threaded rods. I could not get through the z-axis calibration without loosening the screws on the trapezoid nut to allow it to move with the rod. This has been the case since initial assembly, when prints were coming out perfectly.

If you could suggest some probably root causes for me to investigate I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your help!

Re: Y-Axis Ripple

Check that the pulley on the Y axis stepper hasn't come a little loose.

Re: Y-Axis Ripple

I'd say those are shifted layers and not just ripple...
