What's needed after MK3 upgrade?

So I'm considering the MK3 full upgrade. But I was wondering if we had anyway of knowing what a full gap BOM would be for everything we need to buy to build a second MK2 off the spare parts.

I was thinking of giving my friend all the spare parts after I upgrade but I wanted to know what else he would need and what kind of hell I'd be putting him through trying to source those parts.

I know we don't have the MK3 out yet but I wasn't sure if anyone had heard anything about what extra parts would be needed after the upgrade.

Thanks in advance. 😀

well from what I am aware of the only real hard to source parts would be the official Prusa motors, you can get the LCD off of PR e-shop or anywhere actually, amazon, ebay etc. . The whole frame along with the power supply, motherboard, heatbed, hotend will be replaced on the MK3. the only thing I am not aware of is if the y carraige is going to be transferred over or if that piece will also come with the new frame in the upgrade package. I had already bought an official frame so I have the y carriage just in case. I contacted support about it and he said he was not sure, but usually both the frame and the y carraige sell together. Unfortunately the only way to get the original prusa motors is to buy the prusa plus to mk2 upgrade and thats a little over $300, and then you will get pretty much extras like like all the orange or black printed pieces, another 12v hotend, another heatbed, another set of polished rods, so it really depends on if you want to rebuild an all original or a 85% orginal.
Hope that helps. I am in the process of doing the same thing.

Wrong, and wrong... you can buy the motors directly from LDO Motors (the original manufacturer for the Prusa motors) And now you can even buy them directly from Prusa although they are WAYYYY over priced!
