What does the FlashAir mode do?

Hi all

Been wondering about the FlashAir mode in the settings menu... I know what the FlashAir cards are, but what exactly changes when I enable FlashAir mode?

Best regards

Re: What does the FlashAir mode do?

It provides more power to the SD card to allow the wifi to work better

most cards do not provide read write via wifi, only read. They are designed for being in a camera and having photos read off. not saving files to the camera.

The flashair is the same, however they do have a developer site that has the info for configuring the card and it does work well. I have basically stopped using octoprint and just save to the flashair in the printer and print from it. works perfectly.

I took a brief look at both the Einsy schematics and the firmware, but I can't see how it is being done. Is the voltage to the card increased, or is this a software thing?

Re: What does the FlashAir mode do?

I doubt the "it give more power"

My bet would be that it rescans the card for any changes regularly because files change without the card being removed. That would not happen with a regular SD card

Just my 2 cents

I think it scans the card once when started, or a card is inserted.
I'm guessing the flash air mode, scans the card every time you look at the SD.... That's my guess.

Re: What does the FlashAir mode do?

I use the flash-air exclusively in 'normal' mode. The Prusa never misses the fact that I have pushed a file to the card. So I don't really understand how the flash-air mode can be any better.
