Very loud noise and bad vibrations on Z-Axis

Hello,

My printer(kit) is calibrated and a test print works also good.
But when i move z-axis up it makes a horrible noise and the printer is vibrating very strong.
When i move down it is even worse. Something is wrong.

Please see this video:

What can i do? 😕

Thank you for your help!

brgds, Matthias

Same here, been there since day 1. I can mitigate it to a large extent if I squirt some oil into the Z-axis bearings. I think that reduces the vibrations that makes something else resonate but haven't found out what part exactly.

I also tried some oil but without success! Nothing changed.

Is that not the PSU rattling?

no, i think it is not the PSU rattling. It comes from the z- spindles.
But this was not on my first 2 prints. There was everything ok.
But at the third print this problems come. In printing mode you don´t hear that noise. Only when you move fast. (for example: during calibration)
And you can feel the mechanic vibrations.

The PSU rattle is well documented.. Its caused by a plastic sheet of insulating material which rattles at certain frequencies.

Some people have poked things through the grill to secure it.. I am personally going to open up my PSU and "stick" it to the case so it doesn't rattle.

Loosen the screws that hold the Trapezoid nut.
If tightened too tight, the nuts may be slightly skewed to the motor shaft and you will have that sound.

I had this for a while... The issue for me was that the printed plastic cover for the LCD was loose, just press the front to clip it back on.

I also released why this was happening, I was not pressing the button but pinching it with one finger behind the cover. So occasionally I had been losing the cover off and allowing this to vibrate, but it was always worst during mesh bed calibration.

Maybe you should try this too.

Thanks. That fixed my loud Z.
