Very hot Extruder stepper?

Been printing with my Mk3 for a few weeks now, and getting great prints.
I had to contact support and get replacements rods, but these went in no issue.

I just tried printing a D&D mini, at 0.05 mm layer height, in PLA, using the stock settings in Prusa Control, and it failed in a rather interesting way, but i'm sure that's just fine tuning required.

I noticed that the extruder stepper was significantly hotter than any others, (almost too warm to leave your hand on it for an extended period of time).

I power cycled the printer and tried another print ( at 0.2 mm) and that seems to have bad print quality now. I'm now printing a model I've done a few times to see if the second model requires reslicing, ( a Benchy) hopefully it will turn out OK, but i'll need to wait a while for the print.

In the mean time....how hot are we expecting the extruder stepper to get? Just stuck a temperature probe from my multi meter and its reading around 42C.
