Textured PEI bed
Evening printers,
Are people now receiving printers with the textured PEI beds on delivery now as statdard?
Re: Textured PEI bed
The initial shipment on those PEI beds from what I was told when I ordered my MK3 won't ship until 2/29/2018 so my guess is they have not. My MK3 ships on 3/8/2018 and I'm hoping and was told that they should be included if it doesn't slip.
Re: Textured PEI bed
I just got my ship notice today and was told the powdercoat plates are not yet available until the end of February. I told Prusa to send it anyways.

Re: Textured PEI bed
I think mine is going to ship on the W/C 22nd but I'm not sure if it will or not, it seems like they are keeping on top of shipping dates. I've not asked them not to wait for it. I guess unless I'm very lucky ill have to wait for a separate order.
Re: Textured PEI bed
Any updates on this topic?
Particularly for those that received their shipment, and wanted the textured beds?
Has there been any update to the vouchers?
Will there likely be enough avalible for new machines going out as well as those waiting since December?
Will we be limited to any specific type or quantity?
I would love to try a variant of each, and maybe pick up a reasonable amount of replacements for the future.
Re: Textured PEI bed
Got mine 3 days ago, no textured bed.
Re: Textured PEI bed
The store page currently says, "Available to order from late February 2018." So still not available yet, but maybe soon.

I'm certainly happy I didn't wait for the textured bed... I will order one when available though and am even considering a spare PEI, though that may be overkill...
Re: Textured PEI bed
my order is set to be shipping on the 20th (roughly) and just asked chat and they said it will just miss the textured sheet so, im guessing they will be sent out with march orders.
Re: Textured PEI bed
Mine is set to ship February 26th. I was told by chat that it should be shipping by then with the powder coated sheet. I then had them add a note in my order to ship after the pei powder coated sheets were available in case there was any delays.
Re: Textured PEI bed
Holy cow!..... whats another few more weeks. heck at this point I'm getting delusional that this printer only exists on the internet. I have a strong feeling the mk3 mmu will be shipped in June or November at this rate. breath...., relax..., K, I'm good. Life moves on.
Re: Textured PEI bed
For those who are eagerly waiting on the powder coated bed, in all honesty I am currently using my MK3 with the PEI sheet thinghy and it works like a charm. Stays stuck very wel and comes off without too much effort. Now as soon as the powder coated beds will become available, I will order one, but thats just I am addicted to spare parts...
Re: Textured PEI bed
Same here. Very happy with the PEI spring steel sheet. I use alcohol to clean before every print and once I got the live Z adjust correct I haven't had a single problem. I do look forward to the powder coated sheet but I wouldn't hold up the order to get it. If I recall correctly you'll only spend $10 on it when they finally start shipping.
Re: Textured PEI bed
They claim a $10 discount.
"Sheets will be available to order separately for $24.99 (glossy and textured powder coated) or $29.99 (smooth PEI "sticker") at the end of February and you will get $10 discount for textured powder coated steel sheet to everyone who receives the printer with smooth PEI “sticker” spring steel sheet and FREE shipping with it. "

Ah ok. So $15 to buy one not 10 like I was thinking.
Re: Textured PEI bed
I really do love my printer, but still strongly feel like a coupon is a bit shy of what was promised and paid for.
Technically I never received a email before shipment, and was also out of interwebz service for the few days where the news that you could withhold shipment.
It seems like after the delay and hiccups that they would simply ship separatly when they were actually ready.
It was a main feature point, not just a side benefit.
But to be fair, they did do a good job patching up the problem, so full points to Prusa for that.
Re: Textured PEI bed
I am actually having adhesion issues with the smooth PEI, but I think it can be solved. At first, the bed was sticking fine, after hours of printing, not even PLA is sticking well. I think this is because im using 70% alcohol, I ordered some acetone and I think using that once a week or so should bring back the adhesion. Secondly, I just ordered buildtak. I am going to remove the PEI from one side, so I have buildtak and PEI on the same sheet. I think it will be nice to have the option.
As a buildtak user on my other printer, stuff sticks to it so good its almost impossible to remove at times. But this wont be an issue on a flex plate style bed. I think it might be a match made in heaven.

I'd try and get some 90%+ IPA. I find the bed can lose adhesion far more often than I'd want to use acetone on it. 70% IPA wipes didn't do anything to help. Using purer IPA before every print makes stuff stick incredibly well.

Thanks for the info good sir!
Re: Textured PEI bed
Even with 99% IPA the prints didnt stick that well to the PEI.
I just took a sponge and sanded with the rough side a bit till everything was nice and evenly scratched.
Afterwards the prints stuck way better.
