Can you add a PEI sheet to the back of the textured plate to get the smooth or textured finish just by flipping it over?

Guys, if you are worried about PEI sheet being damaged by your scrapers, knives, shivs, pickaxes, or other medieval instruments... THEN STOP WITH THAT STUFF.
Materials are more flexible when they're thin. A thin sheet of PEI will flex more than a thick sheet.
You only need to flex the plate enough to initiate the break from the print.
After that it shouldn't take more than floss to separate it.
As usual, be gentle, precise, and deliberate.

I've had my MK3 with the PEI spring sheet for about two months now. I've done lots of prints in PLA and PETG. The other day I did a PETG print and when I flexed the sheet to take off the print, part of the PEI broke off and was stuck to the PETG. Is this expected to happen over time? For now, I'm flipping the spring sheet to use the other side (it is double sided).
One thing I noticed, when I typically take off a print the steel sheet is still warm (40C or so) and the prints come off fine. The other day, the sheet was cooled down (about 19-20C).
I almost never use a tool to take off the prints, flexing is more than sufficient. Sometime I'll use a the supplied spatula to get the brim or starter filament off the plate, but do so very lightly.
So will I need to replace the whole PEI spring sheet? Or is it possible (less costly?) to replace the PEI? Which of this options is recommended?

when printing petg you nees to use a layer of glue stick ou blue tape, since the adesion is huge with pei... prusa says you can use windex (window cleaner) also....

maybe you can use the same method to resurface the flex sheet... buying a new one is not a option yet... they are only for new printers... not avaiable yet to buy

I clean my bed with Windex (window cleaner) when printing PETG. This makes it easier to get the print of the bed.
Some uses glue stick but it's a bit messy i think.

My durability has been about a month, within that time, both sides have suffered damage when printing with PETG. I would say they are MUCH LESS durable than the Mk42 configuration.
What's your mileage?
PRUSA...how long are they lasting in production. Given that PRUSA has switched to PETG, and I've been using PETG for nearly 3 years on PRUSAs, I'd like to hear what the factory is achieving for durability, and if there is something special that is being done to prolong life.
or perhaps, I have a dud?
