Re: Stealth mode layer shifting
7.2.4 Normal vs. Stealth mode
The printer offers two print modes. Normal mode is required for the detection of lost steps
(shifted layers) while still being quieter that silent mode on MK2/S. The second is called
Stealth mode and utilizes Trinamic StealthChop technology making the printer almost
inaudible with print cooling fan being the noisiest part of the printer. Stealth mode however
doesn’t provide lost step detection
However even without detection it shouldnt go so badly wrong
Re: Stealth mode layer shifting
So no layer shift detection in stealth mode, but clearly the new drivers are either very susceptible to any kind of friction or are simply just too weak in stealth mode. Ughh...
Re: Stealth mode layer shifting
you got the latest firmware? they limit the speed there to make layershifting less likely to happen in stealth mode.
Re: Stealth mode layer shifting
Yes, the latest firmware.
Re: Stealth mode layer shifting
I just got a major layer shift (y direction) in stealth mode. Maybe 1cm into a part, then each layer had major shift. Haven’t had any issues in normal mode (including at least one 10 hr print).
Back to normal mode for now. Firmware was the one released last week.
