I didn't read through the whole thread but do you know what version printed parts you have? Specifically x-axis ends and z-axis ends?

Both parts ar markt B6

Hi Sneezle,

You're fighting with the same inconsistent extrusion we all are right now. Click through the pages of this thread checking out the photos: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3-f30/tired-and-indignant-t14872.html

Wish I had some pointers, but beyond getting a firmware with Linear Advance enabled I think you're pretty close to "max" quality right now for the MK3.

3.1.3 with LA enabled attached, if you'd like to give it a shot. Supposedly only OctoPrint users had problems with LA enabled, and many people are saying with 3.1.3+LA they aren't having OctoPrint issues anyway. If you try it, pay attention to how your corners improve noticeably. 🙂

So i ran into an (for me) unexplained thing. My first layer is spot on so for had no problems. But today i was working on an al. Large piece and my first layer looks to me like a mess.. 😡 . Have not made any changes to my settings that i have been printing on and wiped the bad with IPA 99.9% before starting print..

Here are some picture.

Nozzle offset looks too close to the bed. Could be that PINDA went wonky due to heat and made enough correction to do something like that? I usually add some additional skirt loops (say 2 or 3 total) to give me time to quickly live adjust Z on the start of the print just because of variations like this. Maybe that PINDA fix will come down the line... someday. 🙂

hmm what i dont get is that its in some spots with larger prints .. with smaller prints i dont have it at all. layers are nicely squished and fused together and no dragging of nozzle . my ofset has been 0.680 from the start.. have not chnged it at all.

plus if i Live Z djust on smaller prints and go lower the 0.698 my nozzle does start dragging through the first layed layer. And i get build up on my nozzle.

thats why i asked the Question.

LA works amazing by the way ....... 😀 such improvement on corners

Either your first layer is too low, AND/OR you are over-extruding.

The ONLY time you will ever get "plowing" on layer2, is if your Layer 1, is ALL KINDS of wrong.

In a perfect world, the top of your first layer should be smooth. If it has "sharp ridges" and feels a bit like sandpaper, you are too low. If it's textured but smooth. (like the sides of the print) your first layer is too high.

Then there's 20 different ways extrusion can effect it... Not fun.

EDIT: If you are printing with 0.15mm or 0.2mm layer heights and your nozzle is dragging on layer2, you have a MAJOR issue. I have never experienced that printing with 0.05mm layers, unless I had my extrusion multiplier about 10% too high... heh... don't ask how that happend. 😉

Hi, I'm Sean. I used to work on CNC machines.
I try to not make mistakes, but the decision is YOURS.
Please feel free to donate to my filament/maintance fund.

Printer has been dialed in as optimal as possible so time to make the enclosure. Will possably ad an extra filament hole in future but for now one will do. Im happy with it.

Had to redesign the placement of PSU. I had to put it on left back leg instead of right wich ment so redesigning of some parts. Because my cable from PSU to einsy board was so short it barely made to its original placement on mk3.

here are two picture to show how i routed PSU cable and plaace ment of PSU underneath the enclosure

If people here have Question im happy to help

Re: Sneezle's MK3 ( noob printer)

finally got my poly maker polybox installed and hooked up to my enclosure/ mk3

also added a drawer to my enclosure to have my tools nicely nearby and neatly tucked away

Hi Sneezle,

can you let me know how the polymaker polybox works for you when you get it.
And also where can I buy the green cable wraps? My printer was ordered 18-01 and is now in transit.....

--pascal

As you can see on the photos, finally installed my polybox, works great, humidity stay below 25% made a slight mod to the box, the filamant passthrough holes are on the top wich is not practical ( you can't take op the lid should you need to because the filament runs through the lid...)
so i drilled two holes in the black base and sealed 2 holes in te lid. So now i could take of the lid and it will not interfere with filament. works great

Thanx, Sneezle,

I have the poly box now as well. Waiting for my first PETG to print the adapters for the LACK enclosure.

cheerz
