Shouldn't there be some sort of protection around the PINDA probe?

I threw my calibration all out of whack yesterday by accidentally hitting the PINDA probe while cleaning the nozzle with a brass brush. Would having some sort of shield around it impact its working?

difficult to say. if you fit a surround, the resulting mass will be closer to the extruder, surely this would be more prone to contact rather than likely to protect the Pinda...

I'm thinking more of something along the line of extending the clamp for the PINDA.

There was a lot of people to added a pinda protector on the MK2 before the probe holder was modified to a more stout mounting. The consensus that I have seen since that mod (which is also on the MK3), the protectors are no longer needed. Early on the pinda may strike a print that was dislodging or curling while printing. Since the mount was more flimsy it would break. The protector was only used to help guide the pinda over or around an obstruction and avoid breaking the mount holder.

I published a classic PINDA protector for the MK3 but I myself are not using it currently (mainly because I am still debugging the first layer issues that I experience)

I personally still think it is more helpful than harmful
