I think I recall seeing upgrade kits slated for January release where as kits/Assembled were slated for November Release...though Assembled takes a bit longer in the queue since someone has to assemble/calibrate/test vs cramming a bunch of stuff in a box. If you're wondering because you're planning on ordering keep in mind there is a queue now, recall reading a blog that said they are into February estimate now on new orders.

@joe.v2 Thank you for the info, I am rather new to PR. I recieved my MK2S two days before the MK3 came out. I ordered the upgrade as I wanted to use the left overs to make another MK2S. I still need some parts but am ordering as much as I can through PR. I am just wondering how do they usually go about with the shipping process so I know if I should order another upgrade or just wait till the herd has thinned.

You have a MK2S and have ordered a MK3 full upgrade?
And when you get the upgrade you will build another MK2S with the parts left over? Cool. 😀

How much cheaper will that be compared to just buying an MK3?

Well, I had all the rods, and an extra official Prusa frame, along with all the printed parts (I printed extras) so with the voucher, so far I only spent for the MK3 upgrade, which was a little over $400. So once I upgrade my MK2S to MK3, I will have the old motherboard, the 12v psu, the old frame with threaded rods, I had spare endstops, spare lcd. ( I have another printer I had built prior (not a prusa clone) so I have various nuts, bolts and whatnot) The only things I do not have are the official prusa motors, so that is the only thing I need to have an "official Prusa MK2S" but I just found out recently PR does not sell their motors only. Technically, I can buy the Prusa Plus to mk2 upgrade but then I will have enough parts to build two other Prusas, which quite honestly doesnt sound bad to me! but it would be another $300 but then in reality it would have cost me $700m for two Prusas (technically) aside from my original one.

Just ordered a MK3 kit. Support said "February" when asked for expected shipping date.

I purchased the kit in hopes that it would ship out faster then assembled units.

I better make that more clear, I purchased the MK3 Kit and not Assembled MK3 Printer.

Oh oops. lol. I read it too fast. Okay, well I believe that is not too unreasonable, but I bet you are already anxious!

I think kits and preassembled get send starting the same day.

The difference is the rate they are send out. While a kit can be send out as soon as all the parts are thrown in a box, the assembled machine has to be assembled first (Captain Obvious). I guess an experienced builder still needs 3 hours at least to assemble the kit (I needed like 15 hours for the MK2s).

Well that but I guess the MK3 can be assembled faster. So maybe in half the time an MK2S can be assembled.

Yet still: the kits can be shipped in higher rate. So usually you do not wait as long for kits as for assembled machines.
