SainSmart TPU 95A and Settings

I'm trying to print with the SainSmart TPU but it keeps oozing and stringing regardless of any settings so far. I just want to know if there's anyone out there with an i3 MK3 that manages to print without oozing and stringing that can share the print and filament config?

I get similar results with fast vs. slow, hot vs. cold, extrusion multiplier high vs. low and retraction speed changes. I found out that having a fill density of 100% makes it slightly less stringy.

You can spend a week dialing it in, and you will eventually get better results. For right now, just let it finish, clip off the excess strings and then use a heat gun on it. It will look like glass when your done. In many cases the stringing wont effect the final product if you postprocess it with a heat gun. That is the advantage of that type of TPU. Of course, solving the stringing is a good idea (I turn off retraction and lower temp, but I still have some), but you might be happy after you clean up the print.

Daniel, I struggled a lot while trying to have a decent looking TPU print in my MK2, made all changes just like you, messed with speed, temperature, retraction, things got messy, but then, i figured out, depending on the model, you can fix that easily checking the "Avoid crossing perimeters" at the printer settings tab, under the layer and perimeters option.

That means that it will still be oozing, but all travel movements are supposed to be done over infill, not over outer walls, trapping most oozing inside the model, that way my tpu prints came out almost perfect.

give that a try.

Thanks for the replies, I managed to print small objects fairly well with "Avoid crossing perimeter", however, I can't finish larger prints because the filament is starting to spool out on the Extruder side likely because the oozing is too much and the layer is too bumpy to print on anymore.

Learnings so far:
- 15mm/s max print speed, otherwise the starting points of each layer is sloppy
- "Avoid crossing perimeter" at least prevents outside oozing
- loosened extruder idlers a bit to avoid early filament spooling out

I will be messing around a bit more since I do want to print larger objects.

For the filament exiting the side of the extruder, there's a possible workaround here (page 5, post by tim.k5 on 21 Feb 2018 17:34 because the direct post hyperlinking is broken on this forum).
