Raspberry Pi 3 B+ aviable
the new + Version is aviable....
It needs more Power than the old one, so the question is - does it need an external power supply?
(it is a litte bit faster, has gigabit LAN and 2,4+5 GHz / all channels AC Wlan )

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ aviable
If i'm not mistaken even the regular Pi3 needs the external power and only zero/zero-W can be used with header only.
Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ aviable
Exactly, the normal 3B wont work without modifications either and needs a direct power supply.
That wont change with the B+.
Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ aviable
I have been using the pi zero for a week on the mk3 and the only limitation I've has seen so far is have a second device receiving the video stream. I just purchased the new pie B+ and waiting for it. I do know it requires its own power but my question is can I still be able to plug in via serial connection like the pi zero at the back of the einsy board with a ribbon cable or my only way would be via the USB connection? I do understand two pins are voltage pins so I'm not sure if I can not be used them if there would be a power issues ( 5v > einsy < 5v> pi 3+ <5v). for mounting the pi 3+ I would remodel the cage and have it mounted behind outside the einsy box or print its own and have it mount on the aluminum extrusion along the front of the left z stepper motor.

Why would you even want to do that? just use the usb port. I swear I read somewhere that it is possible but ...
The header itself is honestly a baffling design/marketing decision as it offers zero advantages, requires you to use an underpowered Pi known to cause issues, and requires to reprint/modify your existing enclosure.
Re: Raspberry Pi 3 B+ aviable
Pre-ordered a B+, should be here at least a few weeks before my Mk3 shows up. Will be my first dealings with a Raspberry Pi, looking forward to it.

Hi Curtis, I just figured if it can be hooked up I can make a modded shell for both the einsy and the p3+ so the whole printer can have a more elegant look. but for sure if anyway the performance or safety of both units are compromised then the easy and simple way will just do.
