R Pi Monitor
Hello,
I am looking at using a Pi for my Mk3 for wifi connection and monitoring but have some questions. I have made my own enclosure and want to ensure this is not overheating the printer.
Can it monitor the printer and send feedback on the temperatures for example?
can I add my own additional sensors to monitor the temperature from outside the enclosure?
Can i use this this information to activate a fan to cool the enclosure if it gets too hot?
would it be best to use a RPi 3 via usb to achieve this or a Zero attached to the board?
Thanks,
Dom

you can of course get the temps via octoprint from the printers sensors, but you can also add your own thermistor for monitoring ambient temperature directly via the pi, you will need some additional hardware (at least a thermistor and some additional hardware/board) though. I don't think the einsy itself has connectors for additional thermistors.

Ofc you can then with this information use the pi to start additional fans (which you also need to hook up to the pi, there should be plenty of tutorials for that)

You would probably be way better of with a pi3, outside the einsy housing, since you will have to have access to the unused GPIO pins for your additional "features" mentioned above.
I suggest you dig into some RPi tutorials, have fun 😉
Re: R Pi Monitor
Thanks hiElvis
i have a mechanical background so this side of it is new to me. I will start to look into how to create a system like this in detail now I know it can interact with the printer in the way I want. I have started to look into this but I didn't really see anything on combining the external sensors and the printer simultaneously.
This has been a great help thanks.
