Question: How important are the Z-axis covers?
From Section 4: Z axis assembly, step 3.
I forgot to put them on. I missed this step. How important are they and should I add them asap?

They are important Mike, they stop crud entering the motors

I forgot them too. Then I installed them and the printer ran much more silent. I'd just get it installed...

Just be sure not to screw them down too tight. They need a little clearance otherwise you will have Z axis problems 🙂

These motor mounts might help in this situation.

They allow the motor to be dropped out and then pulled forwards through the gap in the front.. Looking at your video, I don't think they would have helped that much, but they are still a really nice upgrade which will help with future Z axis maintenance.

WOW That is awesome! I added them to my collection and will be printing them in the near future.

One can also just screw the motors loose and pull them out below. I did that - works like a charm. Cable management has to be done partially again after that. But I had to do that to exchange the motors. The youtube video shows a valid approach, of course, too.
