PSU outside enclosure questions
I'm intending to put my MK3 (when it arrives) inside an enclosure. My intention also is to put the PSU outside of the enclosure. Also I want to put the LCD outside of the enclosure.
I'd like to not alter any of the cables/plugs that come with the kit. So I'm thinking of simply extending them. I'd like to extend the black-and-white twisted pair from the PSU with something that has a female on one end (to attach to the male at the end of the kit-supplied wire). I'll plug the other end (with a male I supply) into the electronics module.
The LCD might simply be handled by using longer cables.
My question is, does anyone know the size/name of the male plug/female receptacle for the black-and-white twisted pair? Also, what is the size/name of the flat, flexible cables attaching the LCD?
I'm happy to hear any thoughts on this subject, or any other subject for that matter.
Thank you.
Re: PSU outside enclosure questions
Would someone be kind enough to post a detailed photo of both the plug and the receptacle for the black and white twisted pair from the PSU?
Thanks a bunch.
Re: PSU outside enclosure questions
On the MK2S board all plugs were imho from Molex - you could see if the plugs are the same on EINSY and on Rambo mini.
I know I found several websites that listet the exact product numbers for the Rambo mini.
Sorry I currently can not take a look at my MK3.
Re: PSU outside enclosure questions
I believe the einsy board uses screw spade terminals instead of molex proprietry terminals.

Re: PSU outside enclosure questions
Thanks. You've inspired me to ask the right question: what is the manufacturer and the part number for the plug and the receptacle for the black-and-white cable for the PSU? I think this is called the "power panic" cable.
Also, what is the part number and manufacturer for the two cables used to connect the LCD ?
I believe someone at the PRUSA factory should know. I'm wondering if "open source" means this info can be shared freely with owners of the MK3.
Re: PSU outside enclosure questions
The lcd cable is easy.
Just a grey flat ribbon cable and the connectors are press fit connectors. You can attach them easily without special tools to the cable of your wanted length.
As a rough example: something like this:

Look for number of pins. Pitch of pins. Compare design to the ones Prusa provides.
The power panic cable I have yet to look into. I bet it’s from molex.
Re: PSU outside enclosure questions
I was just told by live chat that once my MK3 arrives, I will be able to order replacement parts. I guess I'm going to have to wait to actually place the order.
I'm curious. I'm wondering if it's possible to order the plug AND the receptacle for the power panic wire. If you've got an MK3 and can look at the replacement parts, and would reply here, I would be forever grateful.
And I saw something on another thread that indicated for the MK2 chasis, the PSU provides structural support. I'm wondering if that's the case with the MK3 and if I'll need to do something to replace that support.
You probably can tell I like to think about things...:)
Thanks again.

I guess this one might be the two wire connector for PP

(see the "mates with parts" part on that site
You will also need a crimping tool for (I would guess) 20 bucks and the actually crimp connectors and any wire with the same gauge.
Re: PSU outside enclosure questions
Hi,
PSU on MK3 uses two kinds of cables:
1) Two pairs to power up the printer:
http://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/8.+Electronics+assembly/513?lang=en#s8267
https://github.com/ultimachine/Einsy-Rambo
2) Twisted pair for power panic
http://manual.prusa3d.com/Guide/8.+Electronics+assembly/513?lang=en#s8269
https://github.com/prusa3d/MK3_Power_Panic
You can harm yourself or damage your printer, so please be careful. Also I think you might void your warranty, depending on how you extend the cables 😕

Re: PSU outside enclosure questions
stahlfabrik, I think you are right about the molex part. thank you.
jakub.d,
if I create a block on the outside of the enclosure that has two screws to attach the two power wires to, and a female receptacle (matching the one on the electronics board), and I attach the two power wires and plug in the power panic cable, AND THEN
inside, I connect wires (through the wall of the enclosure) to those two screws, and to the receptacle, with wires identical to those coming from the PSU that terminate in the same connectors that the wires from the PSU do, and I connect those wires to the electronics unit the same way the ones coming from the PSU would have, IS THERE A CHANCE
that I will not void the warranty? And, off the top of your head, can you state the warranty in a few words ?
Thanks for your time and ideas.
