Printing Bamboo filament questions

Getting my MK3 soon. If I plan to print lots of bamboo filament, should I have a dedicated nozzle or anything for it? I heard awhile ago it's abrasive or something.

Just want to make sure it won't mess up other prints or anything

I don’t know about bamboo specifically, but I’ve seen e3d recommend 0.6mm or larger for wood filaments. I think the default prusa is 0.4, maybe 0.5mm.

I would guess wood is abrasive enough to require a hard nozzle (steel, ruby, etc). It should work with brass, but might wear.

Prusa default nozzle size is 0.40mm.
I never had any luck printing wood/bamboo filament using that nozzle - the nozzle tend to clog up when the flow of filament is too slow in the heater. The larger 0.6mm nozzle will properly help with this issue.

Maybe it is just me, not tuning the parameters correct for the filament, I used the default Slic3r Wood profile in my tests 😛

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

Never had luck printing bamboo because Panda's keep eating the filament.

Not MK3 specific, but I have printed tons of Hatchbox wood PLA filament on other printers using a standard 0.4mm brass nozzle and didn't have any problems with jamming or nozzle abrasion. OTOH glow in the dark filament eats through brass nozzles like a hot knife through butter. YMMV with other wood filaments, perhaps some are more abrasive than others.
