Power Panic

Hi there long time reader first time poster, just sitting here waiting for my MK3 to arrive and i started wondering, just how long after the power panic feature has been activted (power loss) will it be able to continue the print eg. 10mins, 30mins, 1hour or day.
Thanks

Re: Power Panic

Hey there, welcome to the community!
There is no significant limit, as during power panic the current state is saved to the eeprom (non volatile flash memory).
The real concern is the cooling of the print bed due to power loss- materials that heavily depend on the heated bed for sticking will probably come loose

Re: Power Panic

I think the OP may be assuming that activating Power Panic also enables some form of power backup to keep the print going. Think I am right saying that PP just uses whatever residual power is available to store various parameters but this only takes a fraction of a second, just enough time before the printer dies completely.

If you are in an area prone to power cuts (like me) then consider a UPS, sized accordingly. Not looked at the power requirements but given the length of time needed for a print this may get expensive.

Thanks pavlo.s / pat.c that was what i was after, its a bit of reasurance to know that if the power is lost during a print it can be continued at a later time. I was aware from the video’s i’ve seen of the power panic that it stores the current print information i was just curious as to how long it would store it for.

Re: Power Panic

I didn't consider the heatbed temperature and adhesion with the part. However, another possible side effect is strength of the part at the layer of failure. Presumably, adhesion of the new layer will not be as strong when the previous layer is cold, right?

Re: Power Panic

Same here, first time posting. I was wondering how power panic will work with the rpi zero attached?
