Print fail: Sd card model pop off after printing few layers
I have assembled the mk3 and run the basic callibration "three time" after printing few layer of prusa logo print pop off from bed. Tried to increse the z distance same result after printing few layer model pop off .
Any solution
Re: Print fail: Sd card model pop off after printing few layers
what is your live z setting right now?
pictures of the bottom of the print are also welcome for helping diagnose the issue.
have you cleaned the bed with alcohol? if you have touched the bed it will release pla rather than stick it down
Re: Print fail: Sd card model pop off after printing few layers
Hey,
I tried printing with increase bed tempetrature around 70 and these are result.
Prusa logo and marvin print fail in middle .
Than i increase the temp to 70, was able to print. I also tried the batman model.
All the model printed directly from sd card.
Question:
1. I dont understand why layer is not sticking to bed, its more likely behaving like abs.
2. The first layer seems string not as smooth as its top, IS IT NORMAL???
3. What i am doing wrong???
Re: Print fail: Sd card model pop off after printing few layers
That really looks like your Live Z Adjust is way too high. What is it set too now? The measurement is down in the menu.
I would start with a single layer model and get the value adjusted so it lays down the layer good. Start increasing the negative value until you get squashed lines and then back off until they just start forming together. The manual has some good explanation on this tuning.
For me, I started out with 0 from a new kit, went down to -.625 and then backed off to -0.550 for great consistent printing.
Let us know what you find.
Re: Print fail: Sd card model pop off after printing few layers
In handbook its recommended hieght is around -0.100 .
What u saying isnt too high, it wont damage pei sheet.
Can u send me image how first layer should look.
If possible please guide me pla printing and what to consider.
Currently my room temp is around 30 degrees.
Thanks martin

... I really should read that book...
Setting the Live Z to -0.100, would indicate the nozzle would be 0.1mm HIGHER than the bed at the exact point at which point the Pinda probe detected the bed. For this to be accurate, that would be SCARY close to the print bed(a piece of paper is right around 0.1mm! Depending on the position of your PINDA probe, your Live Z number can vary VERY MUCH.
If you used a ZipTie on on the heat-bed, with the nozzle JUST touching the heat-bed... Specifically step 1-3 here. Your numbers will MOST LIKELY be around -0.500. Take it slow. Perform the "First layer Calibration" in the "calibration" menu. Keep lowering your first layer by small amounts, such as 0.050mm per attempt.
The test cube on the RIGHT has a nearly perfect first layer. (not mine, as I don't want to get out of bed and wake the wife to show off mine. 😛

Re: Print fail: Sd card model pop off after printing few layers
Hey stefan,
Can u explain more about live z adujstment
-0.100 > -0.500
I understand that paper sheet is 0.100 mm
I used first zip tie method
Than also try basic paper trick to confirm
The nozzel height that it should just feel resistant under nozzel
Thanks for image
I will try printing small cube like this
Still it will be great if u can explain more
Thanks stefan
Re: Print fail: Sd card model pop off after printing few layers
You need to lower your nozzle a lot. You do this by "decreasing" live z.
So if you are now at -0.1 you need to go to -0.2, -0.3 and so on. Looking at your result I would expect the correct value to be at around -0.6 or even -0.8.
You dial down until there is no more light coming through in between the first layer lines.
Do not print a calibration cube. It is way to small. Print something bigger like the castle on the SD card. Of course - stop after the first layer. Take off the print and hold it against a light. If there is no more light coming through you have found the spot...
Re: Print fail: Sd card model pop off after printing few layers
And clean your bed properly before calibrating.
The rinses on the underside of the detail (your first image) indicate that you have dirt (grease) on the bed.
Wash the bed with a soap solution and water, it always works.

Thanks
Fabrik
And
Dreambox.
I will try what u have suggested.
Dreambox u said rinse with soap
Is it okay to do that won't soap solution are basic and can degrade PEI.
I am new so pardon me for my missconception.
I try google more into it.
👍🏻
Re: Print fail: Sd card model pop off after printing few layers
In the LCD Menu go to "Calibration", then "First layer cal".
The printer will start to print some lines and you can adjust the z height. Go as low as needed.
I'am at -0.680.
You can use alcohol to clean the print bed.
Re: Print fail: Sd card model pop off after printing few layers
I always use a mild soap solution (washing-up liquid) when I switch from PETG to PLA.

Look at this thread https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/prusa-i3-kit-building-calibrating-first-print-main-f6/life-adjust-z-my-way-t2981.html lots of good information on the live z settings

That thread explain a lot.

@stefan-a5
will this guide work for i3MK2 (it says i3MK2S and greater so might be dumb q)
