PINDA Cable broken?

Hello!

I had a calibration error when I first put my mk3 together where it the print head would go to the top of the Z axis, ask if the print sheet was on the bed and if so to remove it, once I select OK the calibrations fails on the spot and the print head does not move. When I reset the print and try to adjust the Z axis in the settings, the printer thinks the Z axis is still near the bottom.

After I updated to past firmware the calibration went through and I'm not sure what fixed the issue. I had the issue come up again, but now I think my PINDA probe is not connected or working properly?

I've had the printer try to dig into the print bed on calibrations, and when I select mesh-bed leveling it says "Bed leveling failed. Sensor disconnected or cable broken. Waiting for reset."

Does this mean my cable might be broken somewhere?

Re: PINDA Cable broken?

Do you have it plugged into the Einsy board properly?

Hi, I'm Sean. I used to work on CNC machines.
I try to not make mistakes, but the decision is YOURS.
Please feel free to donate to my filament/maintance fund.

Just checked the board and it is plugged in correctly, re-adjusted and issue still occurs, doesn't look damaged.

Re: PINDA Cable broken?

I had an intermittent wire in my PINDA cable. Watch the red light on the Pinda probe while you move the cable between the extruder and the Einsy. If the light flickers or goes on and off you have a bad wire. The other thing you can do is place a metal object up to the probe while watching the light. When the metal gets close the light will go off.

I actually haven't noticed this red light being on at all as far as I can recall using the printer. I only discovered the location recently, and it doesn't not turn on when the printer is on, it is high on the Z axis, but no light and nothing happens when I put metal close to it.

Re: PINDA Cable broken?

Sounds like the Pinda is not working at all.

Re: PINDA Cable broken?

Definitely the PINDA probe... After a rebuild to fix a broken thermistor wire mine failed the calibration at the exact same point. I wanted one of the new PINDAs (grey wire) which are supposedly more accurate. Rather than diagnose the PINDA I ordered another. Once I replaced it, fixed.

Whether you fix the PINDA or order another, I can assure you, the problem is definately with the PINDA.
