Octoprint and MK3 - some infos
Hello to all,
I'm using Octoprint to print with MK3 via USB port.
Until here I'm happy. It's great to monitor via webcam and user their plugins. I'll try the PiZero on the board in the future. For now I'm testing it via USB port.
But as far I know there are features that will be not available. I know I could try them by myself, but maybe someone has some informations and experiences.
So, any other limit printing via Octoprint?
Is there any way to use the MK3 features via Octoprint?
Thanks a lot to all!!
Simon
Re: Octoprint and MK3 - some infos
Hello,
Using the PiZero directly on the Prusa board would bypass those limitations?
BTW if someone have experiences about what asked above (OctoPrint via USB), I would be happy if they could be shared. 🙂
Thanks,
Simon

Hello,
Is someone that could give me those informations?
I would like to install RPiZero, only if all those features are available (at least filament sensor, flament change.... maybe blackout is not possible...)
Thanks, Simon

I'm sure they're working on the power panic, but I'd imagine you would HAVE to use the accessory port OR have the pi on backup power somehow.
The filament sensor does work just fine from a Pi, however.

Thank you for the answer.
Does it work only with Pi Zero on the board or should it work with a Octoprint attached via USB? In the last case on my tests it dosn't work.

pi3 usb here, works fine. with super glossy or translucent filaments however, all bets are off.
Re: Octoprint and MK3 - some infos
Ok, then I was wondering what advantages could I have using a PiZero mounted on the Board?
Seems the same as if it's connected via USB. Only to decide whether to purchase it or maintain an external one. 🙂
