Re: My MK3 is AWESOME
Finished my build yesterday and I am very happy with the MK3!
The build experience was very good, I really love how much thought went into the details of this kit to make it easier and safer to assemble correctly!
For example I had mounted the Y-axis plate the wrong way around (dual bearings on the right side...) and the offset center screw of the heat bed made me realise the mistake. Really clever design...
Is there remaining potential for improvements? Sure! The alignment of the frame was not that easy, the PSU is rattling some times, but honestly that's complaining on a VERY high level, and I can perfectly live with these things.
The smooth and quiet operation is great, and the print quality seems to be getting better too. With the latest Slic3r version prints are looking good. I have no doubt that Prusa will continue to tune and tweak the settings to deliver the same quality as the MK2 on this awesome machine!
Thank you Joe!
Re: My MK3 is AWESOME
Great machine ! Thank you Jo and his team.
The print quality is better than my old Da vinci pro. My wife spotted the different immediately.
The building experience was great, every step was explained clearly.
I had trouble time when putting one nut in its hole, I took me nearly an hour! (Just my problem. I tried to draw in the nut with a screw as described in the manual, but I failed because the screw I used was not long enough)
As someone have pointed out already, the cooling fan might not work efficiently. The front edge of a printed 3d benchy and some overhanging part is not good enough. They are good, but not prefect....
So my current score is 90/100. But I believe there is room for post-production improvement, the machine was just launched not long ago. Eager to explore its full potential.
Re: My MK3 is AWESOME
More experiences with my MK3!
I lrinted the benchy, and I also had the cooling issue on the bow. Reducing the speed to 50% helped, but didn’t completely eliminate the issue.
Otherwise it was quite close to the MK2S benchy, but MK2S is a little better still.
But then I sliced the “Sorceress” from Cults3D with Slic3r and reduced speeds and accelerations (about 20% down from default) and it printed perfectly in my eyes! I was really happy.
Then I tried PETG for my very first time, again with -20% on speed and accelerations and it printed really well as well!
Very happy! The filament sensor also recognized that I had forgotten to load the PETG filament (it was in the extruder, but not gripped by gears yet)
So I am happy so far!
Re: My MK3 is AWESOME
Wow, that looks really nice. Is that just with the standard .4mm nozzle?
Re: My MK3 is AWESOME
Yes! Standard nozzle, “optimal” preset with 0,15mm layer height. The sorceress is quite large though, 180mm high. Next time I’d reduce the layer height In the area of the thighs and shoulders with variable layer height feature.
BTW, here are images of the PETG print. Minimal stringing and a few slightly rough spots on the top infill layer. 99% perfect...
