MK3 Linear Advance
Does anyone know when we can expect linear advance to be back on the menu for the MK3? Or maybe someone knows how to (re)activate it on the latest 3.1.3 firmware?
The corner bulges from lack of linear advance are frustrating. 🙁

Thank you so much Brigandier! 😀
I noticed the "LIN_ADVANCE is in 3.2.0 Alpha. Get compiling!" in your sig. Is there any advantage to using the 3.2.0 alpha instead?
Thanks again!

It's enabled by default in 3.2.0 Alpha, but Alpha is showing to be pretty buggy so far (random speedup to 300%+). I would stay away from it until at least beta/RC. 🙂

Ah, ok. Thanks for the warning. 🙂
IIRC, LA was deactivated due to it causing layer shifts sometimes. Do you happen to know if this problem still happens with the LA activated 3.1.3 version you've kindly provided?
Thanks again Brigandier!!!

Originally the MK3 couldn't keep up with serial communications while LA was enabled, and it was causing Octoprint users a lot of grief with timeouts. I guess that could somehow cause a layer shift too, but not sure. Since LA being disabled causes horrible quality (and many of us print from sdcard), we compiled firmware with it back on until Prusa fixes it officially with a warning to Octoprint users to not use it. Since then, many brave Octoprint users have tried the recent LA enabled builds and found they are not having issues now.
So I can't say if it works well with Octoprint or not at this point, but outlook is looking pretty good. 😉

Re: MK3 Linear Advance
On a side note, I was one of the ones having speed issues with the original 3.2 Alpha release, I've since been compiling and running more current releases without issue from SD Card and Octoprint but that may just be dumb luck... As a qualifier I've been printing from SD card far more than Octoprint lately so maybe I haven't used Octoprint with the 3.2 firmware enough to bring out the bugs.
Re: MK3 Linear Advance
I haven't seen anything crazy happen with Octopi + 3.2Alpha.
Only time weird things happen, are my fault. *whistles*
Hi, I'm Sean. I used to work on CNC machines.
I try to not make mistakes, but the decision is YOURS.
Please feel free to donate to my filament/maintance fund.

I see. Thank you for the explanation and once again, for the copy of the latest FW with LA enabled! It soooo much better now! 😀

Thanks for providing this Brigandier!
One question: I've been running 3.1.3 w/o LA - do you think I need to redo the XYZ cal after installing 3.1.3 w/ LA?
Thanks!

Not needed. LA only adjusts the extruder output depending on the K value you are sending (see gcode settings on the filament preset in slic3r). You'll notice sharper, less blobby corners and smoother bottom/top layers. 🙂
