The Prusa Multi-Material Upgrade cannot "mix" filaments. the machine is still technically printing one filament at a time, and swapping between the filaments during the print. Mixing filaments requires both filaments to be molten at the same time and that doesn't happen on the MMU. the part that merges the filament paths into one hotend is outside the melt zone.

So no, you can't mix colors with the MMU.

I am looking for a good home 3d printer and have found this site. So what I need to know is: 1. What is the final quality/finish like on the 4 filament printer option, especially for producing small(1cm to 2cm) objects? : 2. Is it possible to blend/mix the filament colours on the 4 filament printer to achieve different colours and tones? : And 3 has anyone actually got their hands on the new MK3 unit yet, and if so is it as good as it is meant to be?

For the size quoted, a SLA sounds more adept for your requests.

Even with a small nozzle size, if you are looking for "good" detail at that size you might not be content.

final quality will be dependent on your slicer settings and nozzle diameter. youtube has comparison video of different nozzle printing benchies @

for custom colors and tones you will need to have a different type of printer ( )

there are some youtube video "preview" of MK3 at makerfaire but none that I see directly reviewing the machine after successive prints by any notable 3dprint youtubers
