Mk3 Enclosure Fan control from Einsy?
Hi,
I'm waiting for my Mk3 and planning an enclosure for it to print ABS.
So I got some ideas from other threads in this forum. One of it is to put a Fan in the enclosure to hold a constant ambient temperature.
The Mk3 has a built in thermistor for measuring the ambient temperature I think.
Is it possible (maybe on an easy way without much programming skills) to take this value and control the enclosure Fan by the Einsy-Board?

seems like it would be far easier to just use a standalone temperature relay rather than trying to modify the firmware. you could probably pull 12v from the supply if all you want is a small case fan.

OK that seems to be much easier. I didn't know that there are ready to use temperature switches. I thought that I had to program it by my own.
Do you think the printers PSU has enough power to drive a separate temperature Relais with 12v Fan?

I don't want to use a separate heater to heat the enclosure. The box should be heated by the waste heat of the printer and the Fan should start if the temperature is going to high.

Yes I think that's the same function as the one behind the link from curtis.c2.
Are there temperature Relais that could control a pwm fan?

I wasn't aware of that plugin, very cool. Functionally identical, you'd still need to provide a small relay and voltage source since all it gives you is a logic on/off.

OK thank you. But I mentioned that it only works if I use octoprint. If I want to print from SD it won't work.
So I need to to do it with a temperature Relais. Are there some of this Relais with pwm control or isn't that necessary?

no reason you couldn't still run it from octoprint even if you're printing from sd.
There are pwm controllers as well, but if you're wanting to program and control fan speed as well thats more complexity than just a relay on/off. If you have a pwm fan already you'd like to use, you *can* run it from 12v just fine.

Is it possible to use the original PSU of the printer for the Relais and the Fan. Or may I cause problems because the PSU is not providing enough power for both, the Relais with Fan and the printer itself?

depends on the fan, but if its not more than a few hundred ma I can 't imagine it would be a big deal.
Had a brain fart, just realized you'd need to step down from 24v, so might be easier to just get a small 12v brick to power it.
