Indeed Ed. But remember that by the time you know what lize z value is. You have already adjusted the nizzle to qwithin 0.2mm from the heat bed... so if you adjust the Pinda and forget to reset the live z setting you may gouge your heatbed...

Be careful out there.

here's a picture of my construction depot

the truck is giving me problems, it prints beautifully, but the tipper hinge has not worked for me so far.

the bucket loader at the middle back of the picture, needed supports. because the cab is off the buildplate, and the mudguards have negligible contact with the build plate...

still using junk chinese filament

tried again with a sample of filamentive recycled PLA that I picked up at the TCT Show in Birmingham

tried normal settings, slow printing, and reduced flow...
first two failed, third succeeded

I have no idea what the actual flow rate was, for the successful print,
slic3r was set at 0.9 extrusion multiplier, and printer was set to 85%

so i guess the resultant value was in the region of 0.76

Re: MK2s or MK3 at this point?

Bumping up this thread. It has been 2.5 months since this thread had any activity. I'm in the queue for the MK3 but the more and more I read on this forum ... the more I start to wonder if getting the MK3 is the right decision (for a first time 3D printer person) at this moment.

I guess that most people in this forum are people that are having issues so feedback might not be representative. So if you had to do it all over again ... what would you do (asking for hobby usage)?

A) Wait until dust settles down and get MK3 later
B) Get KM3 now
C) Go with MK2s that is battle tested by now

Thanks!

MK3 is my first 3D printer. Prints are beautiful.

My reading of the forum is a distilled summary of things gone bad. Either with the machine or with software or with the way the machine is assembled and/or used. And it's hard to judge which is which. People who don't have problems, mostly don't post. People who manage to fix the problem by themselves usually don't post...

Definitely B. I've got over 450 hours on my MK3 kit in the month since I got it, and it's performed beautifully. The removable built plate is a must-have feature for me, so the MK2s would not be an option.

I've had the same problems with the filament sensor that many others have reported, and I turned it off for now (not a must-have for me). No PSU problems, but i suspect that Prusa got a bad batch which hadn't been properly burned in given the other complaints I've seen.
