LeadScrew Maintenance
Hey guys...
My other printer still uses the "good old" threaded rods for the Z-axis.... I often lubricate them with machine oil so i can get a smooth Z-axis movement.
Should the same be done with the LeadScrews for the MK3? Didnt see anything about that on the manual.
Thanks in advance.
Re: LeadScrew Maintenance
the mk3 uses plastic/nylon leadscrew nuts which need minimal lubrication. i put a drop of oil on them when assembling my mk2 and nothing since been like that over a year

Re: LeadScrew Maintenance
I expect it is POM(Delrin) which does not need much if any lubrication.
Re: LeadScrew Maintenance
Ok... thanks for the info.....
Re: LeadScrew Maintenance
Just make sure to use lubricants specifically designed to work with metal/plastic pairings.
Plastics can swell and soften from contact with mineral and synthetic oils.
You can search for RC helicopter grease which is specifically designed for metal pinion - nylon/POM main gear pairings.
