Congrats! First printer? You made a good call if you can be patient.

Suggestions on software:

  • OpenSCAD: free, extremely easy to do basic stuff, especially if you have any programming background.

  • Fusion360: powerful parameterized modeling. A bit steeper learning curve to do basic stuff, but a great deal of depth behind it. Free to use for hobbyists/small business.

    • FYI, Prusa uses scad for their printed parts (posted on github, you can download them all), and indication of the power/flexibility/availability of it.
