Is it the settings or the Filament

I am trying to print a simple model that I made in Sketch up. Prints fine in Prusa PLA Filament in .15 (optimal) and and .1(detail). (Pictured Below)

I went to do a detailed print using another filament in .05 (Ultra Detail) and the nozzle got clogged on the 4th layer, it stopped printing, and the filament had a rough ejecting from the printer. I have a few questions

1- when I use the Prusa control I noticed my print bed only heats up to 55c and not the recommended 60c, under Prusa PLA setting does this matter? I wasn't able to adjust this in the program. Am I missing something ot should I just use Prusa Slicer??

2- Is it the brand of PLA that clogged the nozzle or the heat setting at 215, should I have used 225 for this filament? I set it to Generic PLA. I used COLORME3D Quality 3D Printer Filament Purple Haze PLA-1KG.

3- Reading some old forum posts on Ultra Detail, this could be more of a printer issue and slicer fine tuning than a filament error, is this true?

4- What is a good bran of Filament (PLA is preferable at this time) available in the USA, Amazon is fine, other sources are good too. I just can justify spending more on shipping than I would on the filament its self.

Thanks

PrusaControl has a nice user interface, but isn't really be updated lately. The Prusa team is in the process of adding the PC interface on top of Slic3rPE, so at some point, that will replace PC. In the meantime, if you want more granular control, it's probably worth learning Slic3rPE.

Once you get good settings, it shouldn't need to be tweaked for every print. I don't know that brand. Avoid the really cheap brands as quality-control tends to be lacking.

3- Reading some old forum posts on Ultra Detail, this could be more of a printer issue and slicer fine tuning than a filament error, is this true?It could be either. If the filament is inconsistent, it will be difficult to print at fine layers. If the printer is off, you may also have mechanical issues. Trying other filament is an easy test to see which is most likely.

I just can justify spending more on shipping than I would on the filament its self.If you're near a Microcenter, their Inland brand is cheap and decent, though I've heard recent complaints about a change in supplier. Off Amazon, AIO Robotics, eSun have been reliable. I really like AIO's filament, and you they provide smaller 0.5kg rolls if you don't need a lot. MatterHackers' free shipping is as good as Amazon, and their MH Build series filament is priced about the same as some of the more reliable brands.

I was able to print with the Prusa Filament after I cleared the clog, but at 1. not .05.

I do know slicer from my time with Sollidoodle printer and printing ABS, which tends to be a bit mor finicky than PAL. I do like the settings on the Prusa version of Slicer which is nice.

I wonder is Sketch up or Vectorworks a better 3D program to create objects in, should I invest in Rhino?

FYI thanks for the recommendations. Ordering a few brands to test now.
