That's why I asked if anyone had taken measurements from the bed while it was clicking. Although now that you mention it, the magnetic field around a wire is proportional to the current, not the voltage, so that is what you'd want to measure I suppose.

If i were you I would jump into chat with support

Customer service sent me a new heatbed. The heatbed apparently died because the power wire broke right near the weld. (Apparently there's a new version of the little cap that covers the weld spots, so I know what I'll be printing first!)

An interesting thing to note, the new heatbed was -just slightly- different from the old one. The sensor cable on the dead one was black with a tiny "H" band on it and a connector end that had a little snap on it. The new one is white, no snap, and no "H" band.

Also, upon replacement, the new one does not click.

So in my case, it... looks like it miiiiiiight have been the bed causing the clicking issue. Again, I can't 100% that causation, but the change did make a difference.

EDIT: Actually, it does still click, but it clicks when it is maintaining temperature, not consistently heating up. Makes me think the clicking is it starting to send electricity to the heatbed, so when it's just feathering electricity to maintain heat, it clicks frequently.

I have the same clicking, it is synchronized with the red LED light, I am putting the video of it on YouTube. The clicking seems to be coming from the PSU.

I see that there are others having the same issue. The clicking sound comes from the steppers motors — or whatever is happening with the bed-heater resonates in the stepper motors. It's the loudest when the motor is in motion. But even during a temperatur calibration it's audible. For me it's the Y motor that has the most noise. I wonder if it will affect the prints. I had a few Y crashes. Not sure if they're related. On top of this I'm having another issue with the extruder hotend 😡

By the way, the noise is not audible or present when in stealth mode.

I mostly hear it at the very end of the bed heating, as the LED goes from solid to blinking as the power flips on/off as it has hit temp. Even then it’s not loud enough to be annoying, but I can hear it from my desk 8’ away. Once the print starts I can hear it, but it’s less easy.

It only happens when the bed heater is pulsing, but not every time. Looking into the PSU, there's a toroidal inductor that's probably to blame. Most likely the modulation manages to hit a resonance, similar to what happened with Evga GPUs a long time ago when they used toroidal inductors which would buzz at the refresh rate under certain conditions.

My clicking (which I started this thread from) really does come from the heatbed magnets which transform the whole bed into some kind of speaker. 😆

Mine ticks as well, from day 1. Sound like it comes from the heat bed itself. Its hard for me to tell exactly where its coming from, but it is definitely in sync with the head bed led.

I have the same ticking noise. I thought that it to was coming from the heat bed itself. But, it was coming from the PSU. I talked to tech support a few times on this issues. "Some users reported PSU “clicking”. What happens is, when you switch to high load on the heated bed the input coil winding vibrate a little. It is physics. The fact this new PSU has active PFC may make this more pronounced, especially on 110V. But you can hear it with every PSU on both 120V and 230V when you stick your ear close enough. As we are preparing to integrate our whole PSU + PowerPanic + connector assembly into one unit – to reduce the assembly time, we have a power supply specialist in-house. So we could quickly find out that this is what is going on. They are perfectly safe and they were also tested when we were getting them tested for the CE marking at the external lab. The clicking can be reduced by increasing the PWM frequency for the heatbed in the later firmware, which we plan to implement."

If it really is coming from the heatbed, then I would guess that your build plate is not sitting flush against the heat bed and so the current pulses, which cause magnetic pulses, are pulling on the bed causing it to flex and click. Either you are hearing the flex of the plate, just like a speaker, or you are hearing it contact the heat bed. You might check to make sure all the screws that attach the heat bed to the Y carriage are below the surface of the heat bed and that you don't have any debris on the heat bed.

If the build plate is not sitting flush on the bed, getting a level bed and good first layer will likely be difficult.
