how do you use non-e3d nozzle?

I stupidly bought a micro-swiss 0.25 nozzle. I didn't notice (until it tore up my bed) that it is ~0.5mm taller than e3d nozzles. So I cannot compensate with live Z (would have to go positive). So only thing I can think is move PINDA, rerun XYZ cal, then do the same again when I put back e3d nozzle. That is very expensive for a nozzle change. I guess I'll stick to e3d from now on unless someone knows a trick to compensate for height difference.

Isnt the pinda probe the only thing detecting Z change? So if you lower the pinda probe that should adjust for the height difference. The lowest part of the nozzle should be around 1mm below the lowest part of the pinda probe I think?

That sounds reasonable, I´d still have my finger on the reset button anyway just in case. On my Anet I redid Z calibration everytime changing the nozzle (even if its the same make) just to be sure nothing gets scratched.

Here is a good vid that explains the process for changing out the nozzle on the MK3 (and the adjustments necessary to correct different nozzle sizes):

Thanks. I change nozzles all the time, but just e3d. This is the first other brand, which is listed as compatible. But they just meant the thread and bore. I didn't think about the tip being longer. I hate messing with the PINDA once I get it dialed in. With e3d, they are all close enough that you can just compensate with Live Z.

Sounds like you need more printers. 😀

If you adjust the pinda for the microsuisse then it should cover both nozel types. With negative z values. Regards Joan

Can I go that negative? more than 1mm? I'll try once my PSU gets fixed.

Re: how do you use non-e3d nozzle?

Ideally if you can get the pinda set to the optimal point, you may be just able to do both within 1mm...

but I have adjusted live Z to greater than -1.3mm on my mk3...
https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/original-prusa-i3-mk3-f30/mk2s-or-mk3-at-this-point--t12549-s30.html

I was surprised by that because I thought the limit was -1.00 mm

best of luck.

Joan

Hey Dennis thanks for linking my video. Truly humbled that you consider my videos useful. Guess I better not give up as I was considering doing. Oh and Jon moving the probe was the only way I could see of getting nozzle to work but work it does. I'm loving my Olssen Ruby.
