Good bearings?
In attempts to fix my still persisting constant vertical line issue that it seems many of us are having, I swapped my bearings to IGUS. These feel a bit tight even when loosely attached, and I had a layer skip that I suspect was caused by them.
Does anyone know a good brand LM8UU replacement? The stock ones are garbage and my Y axis was moving very rough.

Lots of discussions in this forum talking about Misumi bearings. Seems it would be expensive to replace all of the MK3 bearings, but, that's the brand I've seen mentioned most.

When I built mine up I used commercial grade hardened stainless rods to H7 tolerances and SKF LBBR 8-2LS/HV6 bearings 10 of them - total cost was 50% of what the printer cost but I have zero issues with rods or bearings - 40 hours printing and no issues with them - but then I'd be pretty annoyed if there were. I'm not recommending this solution unless money is no object.
I've not heard any bad words about the Misumi bearings, I don't think I would bother with the IGUS I distrust such systems, but that's my opinion, it isn't based on any experience of them. The problem with any system used is that if they're tight then it takes more effort to overcome the friction to get them moving, if they're too loose they don't want to stop, catch 22 and you simply end up with different issues.
I'd advise you to move X and Y axes by hand - the pressure needed to move them should be even across the entire travel, it should be smooth with no roughness - even with my rods and bearings I had to work on this for a while during the build. The rod carriers for the Y axis were the worst as just having the bolts loose wasn't enough to get them forced parallel by the bed, tighten them too much and the force needed to move was uneven. Check the basics before concluding that the bearings etc are the problem although the anecdotal evidence would say that the ones supplied aren't the best quality going, seems a bit hit and miss whether you get higher percentage of good ones or bad ones in the 10 supplied.

Having had a bad experience or two using cheap Chinese bearings I will be using THK bearings for my build. Not that I’m saying Prusa is using cheap bearings as I have no idea what they use.
