First Layer issues

Hi all,

Here is my latest first layer printed after a PINDA adjustment and subsequent 1at layer calibration. I'm not sure what the problem is at this point but I think I'm getting close!

What should I start tweaking to remedy these issues? Would this be an over extrusion issue?

Thanks

Re: First Layer issues

I had similar problems when I switched back to PLA after running PETG. The problem disappeared after I washed the steel plate with a soap solution.
Window cleaners that I used for PETG prevented PLA from attaching properly. It is important that the surface is clean and free from fingerprints, etc.

Hi Douglas,

this looks like too much squish, try backing the Live 'Z' off a little.

Re: First Layer issues

If its not the z-height, its overextrusion on the first layer.

Try turning it down from the 150% towards 100% in 5 - 10% incerements.

Helped me alot.

I print at 105% first layer height and have a perfect first layer, 150% seems just like too much.

Edit: Btw this happens if you calibrate your first layer too perfect, then the 150% first layerheight are just too much (since you dont need that much compensation anymore).

If you lower it, you should have good prints.

Looks like the same thing I was experiencing when my Z level was set too close to the bed. Try performing a live Z adjust and back it off a bit.
