Filament Sensor still unreliable

I am printing the revision 2 MK3 parts with Inland (eSun) PETG. This is my first time printing in PETG and my fear after reading all the issues was unfounded. I am having great results with it.

BUT, the filament sensor has detected a false runout 3x during the current print of the x-carriage and extruder parts. I have been keeping the filament sensor off until the latest 3.1.1 (final) release. I decided to try it again due to the change log mention fixing issues. It does not appear that all is fixed. My son turned the sensor off after the last false alarm (I am monitoring remotely via IP camera). Looks like I will be leaving it off again. I really wish the filament sensor worked as advertised.

FYI the Inland PETG is black in color and appears rather glossy on the spool. Maybe the glossy finish is messing with the sensor???

Re: Filament Sensor still unreliable

that would be my guess. I even had trouble with cleaning filament which is milky in color.

PSA: turn it OFF before attempting to unload/reload a problematic filament. I created the mother of all jams when trying to unload the cleaner filament and reload translucent PETG today without realizing what had happened.
