Filament Sensor gives false detections

Re: Filament Sensor gives false detections

I figured out that turning on the auto load filament, removes the load filament option. But if the sensor is disabled, and autoload is still enabled, the load option is still hidden. Disabling the sensor and autoload brought back the option to manually load. Before I figured that out, I used the manual move on the extruder in the settings to load the filament.

EDIT: It is worth noting that the printer isn't reporting it is out of filament. It is requesting a filament change. Prompting to remove the filament, and load new filament.

I was wondering the same thing, how do you load the filament?

I turned it off and it doesn't autoload or give a menu option to load.

What firmware revision are you running?
I am using 3.1.1 RC4 B143

Brand of the filament, if we can get it we can try testing it.

Some filaments prooved hard to detect properly.

But first, clean the sensor according to the handbook.

So far the Filament Sensor gives false detections for me with the following filaments:

Formfutura rPET
Aprintapro PC-ABS-FR
3dk Top Black
(all glossy black surface)

Fillamentum CPE HG100 "Natural"
(translucent so no suprise there)

Cheers
Oliver

Same problem here with glossy black Colorfabb XT

Re: Filament Sensor gives false detections

I was thinking I would rather have the filament sensor detect the rotation of a wheel turned by the moving filament than having it read the filament directly? This would move the sensor away from the filament to protect it better from harm and allow it to detect clear or transparent filament better? It wouldn’t be dependant on how shiny the material was either. You could make the wheel out of some material the sensor likes to see so it stays happy.

I agree 100%. I'm just waiting for someone to design a mod because I've got other stuff on my plate.

Re: Filament Sensor gives false detections

Had to deactivate for ColorFabb nGen Flex Black.

False detection every minute.

I am working on a similar solution, but need to do a lot of testing, so won't be out for a while.
