Feeling a little queasy

So I just pulled the trigger on a MK3 that I won't see until February. I'm excited but already nervous. My first printer is an Anet A8 that I paid around 150 for and after several mods I'm pretty happy with its results. Paying 800 for my second printer is a significant increase and I'm nervous that I won't see the comparable increase in results.

We will see I guess. I'm am excited about the prospect of the multi material mod which I can't currently get easily on a cheaper knock off.......

I can tell you from my experience (I got my first Prusa MK3 too, and also am upgrading from an Anet A8) that you definitely will be seeing an improvement from your Anet. You are going literally from the cheapest parts available to the best quality parts available.
I don't think there is too much to worry about, and the quality will be better simply due to better quality parts.
I don't know what print quality you are getting with your Anet A8, so it will be up to you as to how much of an improvement you get when you get yours.

considering that Prusa is an award winning printer, I wouldn't worry much about it!

Jon. I noticed you’re an engineering student at va tech? Where are you from originally? I live about an hour from tech.

Re: Feeling a little queasy

I backed a printer on Indiegogo last year; skip detection power fail recovery. Many of the same features announced for the MK3. Only $500 for backers. Closed source firmware, proprietary hardware. The hardware was expected in March wasn’t delivered until October; the advanced features are still vaporware.

Here’s the thing. I’m an open source fan. I’m kicking myself for a) backing a closed project and b) backing a failing closed project.

So I blew $500 to re-learn that I should be supporting open projects. Now I’m waiting until February to finally correct my mistake from last year.

When someone asks you if you're a god, you say, "YES!"

Nice. I travel there a lot. I’m from Martinsville which is an hour south of Roanoke on 220.
